Foods that increase your memory power. The food you take affects your brain, even when you are inside the womb. Dr. Philis Zacha from Melbourne University conducted a study on 23,000 mothers. They observed that mothers who ate junk food, processed food, fizzy drinks during pregnancy, and also salty snacks such as chips, biscuits, cake, etc. their children had moody, restless, and aggressive behavior patterns compared to mothers who ate more natural and fresh food during pregnancy instead of processed food from restaurants.
Children of mothers with unhealthy eating habits were also found to suffer from depression, anxiety, and nightmares. At the University of Bordeaux, research was conducted on rats. On one side they kept a well-lit environment, and on the other side, they kept a darker environment. A healthy rat would explore the well-lit area and see if it can take shelter there. But this is an abnormal rat. It was never given any omega-3 fatty acid after birth. Omega-3 fatty acids are necessary for brain development and functioning.
Because the grey matter of the brain is 99% fat. But the brain itself cannot produce it. It has to be collected from food. Due to the lack of this compound in its brain, the abnormal rat preferred the darker space over the well-lit one. The same may happen for the human brain. Lack of omega-3 fatty acids can cause humans to suffer from indecision, restlessness, and panic attacks. So how to find omega-3 fatty acids? Oily fish, animals raised in natural habitat, vegetable oils, seeds, and almonds. Eat these along with your children, as it would help their brains become perfectly developed. Omega-3 fatty acid is a good fat that is good for the brain. But do you know? Just as good fat does good to your body, bad or harmful fat could greatly harm the brain. Professor Margaret Morris conducted another experiment on rats. She made a group of rats feed on junk food and bakery food. Meat pie, chips, cakes, biscuits etc. You may have noticed that people eat mostly these food nowadays. So eating these foods first impacted the rat's eating process.
Even after eating a lot, you still feel hungry. No matter how much food the lab assistants gave it ate them all in no time. But a bigger impact was observed in its memory power. The researchers placed an object in a certain way inside the rat's cage. Rats are generally a curious species. So the rat immediately looked into the object. After a while, the researchers placed the object a little differently this time. The rat with the healthy diet could recall the object and looked into it differently this time.
But the rat that fed on junk food looked into the object in the same way as it did the previous time. That is, it could not recall looking into it the previous time. It assumed it to be a new object. Thus junk food weakened its memory power. Now let's come to Sugar. Sugar is the ingredient without which you can't find any processed food. Now let's take a look at the effects of sugar on the brain. When you eat any sugary food, your brain induces reactions that it normally does when exposed to drugs or sex.
So you keep craving it more and more. Hence sometimes people have intense sweet cravings. Stories go that families even had to lock up the fridge to prevent diabetic patients from eating sweets. That is, the impact is the same as taking drugs like marijuana, heroin, and yaba. Only the intensity is less. Scientists call Alzheimer's to be the brain's diabetes. To process the excess sweets, the liver has to go through several reactions, resulting in diabetes. The same happens for the brain as it processes the excess sugar which results in Alzheimer's. So avoid taking sugar directly, and make sure that the processed food you are eating does not contain sugar, even if it does not taste as sweet. Now, what can you eat to increase your brain's performance? Fishes like hilsha, and Asian sea bass are a great source of omega-3 fatty acid. Nuts, especially almonds and walnuts. Fresh fruits and vegetables such as guava, tomato, spinach, long beans, also strawberry, blueberry, and kiwi. In a research conducted on 3778 people aged over 60, it was observed that those who ate 2 bowls of fresh fruits and vegetables per day suffered from age-related mental health issues 38% less compared to those who ate them less. Egg. A great source of Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, folate and choline. Choline increases the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine which helps with memory and mood control. Along with food, these habits also help increase brain power - good sleep, regular walking, yoga, and physical sports, drinking plenty of water, and staying stress-free, and the best medicine for that is meditation. If you practice relaxation meditation for half an hour twice every day, you will be surprised at your brain performance.
